The Bedtime Tag

1. What are your favourite pajamas?
I got these for Christmas this year and have worn them so much since. They are so warm and soft! It is a two piece pajama set from Walmart (George brand), and is aqua with white polka dots.

2. Current bedtime reading?
I usually only read before bed if I'm the only adult home. The book I've been currently reading is City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare, book 5 of the Mortal Instruments series. I got the book set of this series as a gift a few years ago and have been trying to read them all, though it's not quite my cup of tea. I may also read Cosmopolitan magazine.

3. What is on your bedside table?

4. Favourite sleepy scent?
I don't think I have a sleepy time scent. If I had to choose one, I'd probably go with a classic like lavender.

5. What is your usual bedtime and wakeup time?
I try to be in bed, lights of, phone away by 11pm but that doesn't always happen. Max wakes up around 6:30am so I get up with him, get both the boys out the door for 7:30 then sometimes if I'm esspecially tired I'll lay back down for half an hour before I start getting myself ready.
6. Top 3 beditme products?
Hand cream - right now I rotate between Caudalie (picture above) and The Body Shop Almond ones
Lip balm - for bedtime I think a thicker, more hydrating one. I've been really liking LUSH Whip Stick, it smells and tastes like Terry Chocolate Oranges, yum!
Cuticle cream - in the winter my hand are just a mess, I'll layer this cuticle cream with the hand cream

7. Your most common sleeping position?
On my left side, curled up a bit
8. Any strange bedtime routines?
I don't know if this is weird but we always watch a show before bed, whether it's on 'real' TV or Netflix. It helps us wind down before bed and spend a bit of quite time together.
9. Are you a big spoon or little spoon?
Almost always little spoon, but I will be the big spoon if he rolls over in his sleep

What are your 3 bedtime products?

My First Ipsy Bag

My love for subscription boxes probably stems from watching a ton of unboxing videos on YouTube each month. The prospect of getting a small present for myself in the mail every month for a small price is just so exciting!

The price of the Ipsy subscription is $10/month (or $110 for a yearly subscription) plus $4.95/shipping (to Canada). I tihnk this is a great deal for the amount, and quality or products you receive each month.

Let's take a look at what I got.

The month's theme is #IpsyLOVE for Valentine's Day.

First off, the products come in a cute makeup bag each month. This month's is hot pink will a waterproof texture. It will be easy to clean if any products leak or make a mess.

Luxie 504 Large Angled brush. How pretty is this brush? It is light pink with rose gold. I think it'll be good for contouring.

Pencil Me In eye liner in Amethyst. This seems to be just your average purple eye liner, though it does have a sharpener in the cap which will come in handy.

MODEL Co blush in Peach Bellini. This bright peach shade is perfect as we are coming into the Spring season. It has quite the sheen to it just based on a swatch I did on my hand, but there is no obvious glitter.

Cargo lip gloss in Anguilla. This is your everyday light pink gloss, everyone should have one in their collection; it's a staple.

Last but not least, Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray. The packaging says it will add volume and texture, protects against heat styling, and is for all hair types.

What did you get in your Ipsy bag this month?

New Boots

I recently checked an item off my wishlist with this boot purchase. I've been looking for a pair of combat style boots for a while. I wanted something that wasn't too 'tough' looking as my style tends to be more on the classic side.

I knew Call It Spring would be a great place to look for a new pair. The shoes there are affordable, yet still great quality. I'm not about to spend $200 on a pair of boots when I don't have to (although I do love my classic Hunter boots).

I got the Suvignano boot in Cognac (here). I love that these lace all the way to the top, but can also be worn laced halfway up with the laces tied around the ankle. I attempted to show both ways in the photo below.

I bought a pair of authentic leather boots from Call It Spring probably four or five years ago and have gotten so much use out of them. I still wear them all the time, and they are just starting to look a but worn, but in the best way possible. Authentic leather seems to look better with time, as long as you are caring for them properly.

Quick Tip: Be sure to always spray your leather boots with a waterproof protectant. This will help keep your feet dry. It will also protect the leather itself, keeping it from rotting or falling apart. If you live in an area that uses a lot of salt on the roads and sidewalks, clean the salt off regularly (when dry), to ensure it doesn't eat through your boots.

Have you crossed anything off your wishlist lately?

Target Haul

This is most likely going to be the first and last Target haul seen on this blog because Target recently announced they are withdrawing from the Canadian market. At first, I was slightly upset by this prospect, where else was I supposed to go to get Sonia Kashuk and e.l.f products? I also liked to browse through their clothes and home décor sections. But in reality, I now understand why, we just prefer WalMart here. I mean, I only went to Target maybe three or four times the whole time they were here, I liked it fine, I just wasn’t ‘wowed’. To me, it just reminded me of the Zellers they replaced.

Moving on to the haul, I’d like to share what I got when I went to the liquidation sale. I will note the retail price, as well as the liquidation discount.

The first item to the left is a P’kolino Mess Eaters Round Storage Bin ($16.99 – 10%). I picked this up because I thought it’d be the perfect size to hold the toys Max’s prefers to have in the living room. I’m always tripping on toys, and pushing them to the wall, it just always looked untidy. So far, this is working well.

I also picked up two packages of Post-Its, I use these all the time. They were $12.78 for both and 30% off. Can’t go wrong!
L’Oreal Elnett Satin hairspray ($14.99 – 10%). Many beauty bloggers rave about the strong, yet not crunchy hold of this hairspray. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while but was put off by the price. There are much cheaper hairsprays at the drugstore, but at 10% off I decided to give it a try.

Bella by Illume Midnight Orchid soy candle ($14.99-20%). This candle smells SO good, it does smell quite floral, but there is a hint of something…muskier (?) about it. I can’t put my finger on it. The packaging is beautiful as well, it will look great on my bedside table. I also plan on using it to hold my makeup brushes once the candle is done.

Speedo Scuba Giggles googles for kids ($10.99-30%). Max has been really enjoying the swimming lessons we put him in starting in January. He’s been becoming much more adventurous and brave with his swimming, he has just starting going underwater. I thought he’d really enjoy being able to see under the water with these googles. I’m hoping they will also encourage him to push himself a little more, maybe try to retrieve a toy from the bottom of the pool (in the shallow end of course). He picked the crazy colour himself.
Mossimo Supply Co. light grey tank top ($8.00-20%). You can’t have too many basics in your wardrobe. This is just a classic tank top, perfect for layering.

On to the makeup, the fun part! Everything was 30% off in the cosmetics section of Target. I wish I got more, but everything was picked over for the most part.

I picked up both the Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy polish in 540 Checkmate, and the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Leather by Eyestudio in 80 Creamy Beige because of Essie Button (#essiebuttoneffect). Both of these items were featured on her blog (www.essiebutton.com). When I saw them, I didn’t even have to think about it, if Estée likes them, I will too.
I got two if the new Revlon Ultra HD Lip Laquers. The top one is 540 HD Petalite, a classic pink gloss with gold shimmer. The other is 570 HD Smoky Topaz, a nude mauve colour, also with shimmer.
Lastly, I got the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipstick in 08. EleventhGorgeous talked about this in their 2014 Beauty Favorites video. It’s a dark mauvey nude, very Kylie Jenner. I’ve also heard it is like Mac Faux, but I don’t have that lipstick to compare.
